The last thing we need is a gestapo. I like things as they are, just need a little cleanup once in awhile with the spam, and even that is of minor importance.
We don't need any heavy jackboots coming down on our necks. As a small site, we are fairly self-policing and even when things get heated, we still get along just fine, for the most part.
I hear talk about three strikes, deleting threads and banishment, and don't like the sound of it at all.

Shit, man, might as well just admit that the terrorists won, at that point.

All I know is that this site needs more discipline.

But no one called for it. Ebd said he wouldn't want to be a mod because he would ban too quickly. Bar volunteered and had a tolerance for Steve. I'm volunteering and really don't have any desire to do it besides cracking down on spam. Steve posed the issue of incessant racial slurs, which is an obvious violation of the forum rules, that would have been the only instance in recent years that demanded being called out. And not even demanding of a ban, just a reprimand and some edits. I don't think a round of moderation with the candidates in the running will be problematic.

Simply more moderation. Also, more strict rules like rules for being banned if done and acted out of the limits for excessive amount of times. I do think the net does need strict rules sometimes because of the random people on it. We do generally get a long quite well despite our differences. I also think having very strict rules can make people avoid sites. But a site like Metal Archives having sometimes ridiculous rules they follow other times is necessary for the order of the site. I think we need to reevaluate our moderation with simply more moderation presence and also more strictness in putting into action timeless rules. I think banning is sometimes necessary among regulating other harsh rules because of the order needed in a website.

I agree with any and all disciplinary measures taken thus far.

If you are talking about steve, he's benn banned already a few times.
Other than that, there aren't any violations of forum rules that I can think of, so I'm not sure what you mean by "more strict rules".

You don't? Maybe when most threads go totally off topic? When a purchase thread turns into drinking thread? For example I like how Thomas handles things around here. You can either act appropriately or the post will be deleted. That kind of a thing might be sometimes the solution to the chaos here once in a while. Are you denying the fact that this site needs more order and discipline? Either way, it is after all just a website and you can always just close the window and come back in a few days.

Fuck all that.
You sound as if you want this place to resemble some 19th century parlor where everybody sits around drinking their tea with their pinkies daintily extended and their legs crossed.
Jesus, the site is a place for 'heads to bullshit about whatever is on their mind. Fuck rigidity, If I wanted any of that action I'd be listening to Pat Boone.

+1

Just find a way to keep Steve gone and this place will be a much happier place.

Sometimes you haven't the slightest clue what you're talking about do you? You have all the wrong ideas. You take things to the extreme when you describe a 19th century scenery of people. You know what? Whatever, I couldn't care less at this point. You misunderstand what I say when I put thoughts into exact words like "we need just some more discipline or more moderation around here" and you take to it another extreme which isn't really something I'm going say in other words. I stand by what I say. Unfortunately there more like-minded people around here that agree with you. That the site is okay the way it is. I strongly disagree and stand by it.

As always, you're overdressed.
You're like the guy that puts on a suit and tie to grab lunch at the local all-you-can-eat buffet.

The site is great just the way it is.
