Disappointing and very frustrating. Their are good songs here (mostly not up to the previous standards) but also two outright shitters in Matrix and Trinifuckingdad, and I'm not keen on the ballad either.

Hmph.

Good album but no Hellfire Club, that's for sure. There are some really good songs but overall it just isn't at the level Edguy is capable of. It's a fun album, it has catchy songs, but i was hoping this would be more along the lines of Hellfire Club.

89/100

The day Edguy will (really) disapoint me has not yet arrived, and I doubt it will ever will

I doubt that too Chris. You managed to score yet another Edguy album in the 90's. You're going for a record.

Ok on a more serious note, i find this album to have a few stinkers that ruins the good impression of some songs. For me there are great Edguy songs on every album, but it's more like 2-3 great and 6-7 average to just worse. The only exception is of course VGO. This album doesn't stray much from the above formula. The album opens great with Sacrifice, which is a good hard rock/melodic heavy metal combo with a very infectious chorus. The other songs which have slowly been growing on me are Wasted Time and Catch Of The Century. Good catchy melodies always have an impact on me, i'm guilty of that. Save Me sounds as bad as 99% of Edguy ballads and i think that The Asylum is a blatant copy of Piper Never Dies.

This album is definitely in the low 90's, or at the last an 89/100. The only bad song is "Trinidad," which is easily their worst ever. Other than that you've got a few good song and the rest are awesome! The problem is if you want power metal Edguy, this isn't the album for you.

This album is really really bad. It's barely even metal, and even at its most metallic it's the kind that gives metal a bad name. All you fanboys need to get off the bandwagon and grow up. This album getting a higher score than Cult Of Luna? It's a freakin joke.

No, just a general statement on the album. Why? You wanna fight?

Well no, I thought you made a general statement but just to make sure. Besides I nominated you for "best debater" and i'm not suicidal.
In any case, I'm not expecting anything from Edguy. And I can hardly be looking for MORE power metal right now. :D
I think their mixture of rock and metal could have been good if it was done properly. Heck I love this kind of metal (Last Tribe, Axxis, Altaria, Pretty Maids are bands that I enjoy).

God, I'm not that bad, am I? Haha.

As for this album, I love it. I absolutely love the infectious hooks and the rock vibe of the album. I totally dislike "Trinidad" and the other songs I think are good are "Return To The Tribe" and "Sacrifice," which seem to be the more typical Edguy songs. I think the rest are killer.

WhawhawhatWHAT? Cmon, Kenny-dude, Trinidad is friggin awesome! A carlitocool-summer bonanza, a real party tune! Its -30 degrees here in Finland and every time I listen to Trinidad,I can feel the scorch and righteous rays! For some reason I get a Mr.Bungle-feel off the song. Oh well, I can easily see that people might not like it but it's my very favourite off this album, and thats not saying I think the rest sucks decapitated donkeycorpses. Sacrifice, the title track, Wasted Time, Catch Of The Century and The Asylum are my current Tops also. Its also surprisingly consistent, Superheroes is the only track that does nothing for me, just bland. Even the futuro-vibes of Matrix have grabbed onto me like crazy.

At first I didnt like the lightening direction too much, especially after the heavier magnificence of Hellfire Club, but Rocket Ride has really grown on me (not surprising as this album is filled with 80s hard rock-influences, mucho good for me). It aint Edguys best to me (HC-HC-HELLFIRE!!!) but an outstanding album, I would definitely score it 88-92. Well done, Toby and company!

I would also say the comedic elements that are numerous appeal to me greatly. Ive begun to really like bands that dont take themselves too seriously and let the hair down even on record. "You are nothing. NOTHIIIINNG!!! Well, back in Germany I was a famous pornstar......"

Uhh you reminded me how annoying those 30 seconds of Catch Of The Century were. Now I know that Toby's shrieking can be really painful.
Besides, I like my metal to be badass. \m/

Man, some of you guys need to chill out. This album is great! The songs are catchy, rockin', and just a shitload of fun. You can't expect a good band to continue churning out the same formula album after album and manage to keep it fresh at the same time. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy Edguy's lighter, fresher take on heavy metal. 90/100

P.S. Trinidad is awesome.

This album is so goddamn generic, and absolutely predictable from start to finish. This 'new formula' isn't fresh in any way, and judging by their back catalogue and their overall talent, I'd say this album is borderline insulting.

60/100

"Trinidad" sucks! :D That style of song was terrible when Nelson did it, it's terrible when Edguy did it. Haha. I don't know, I really don't like that song at all.
