We're a bit late on this review, perhaps because they are high mountains to be climbed between Switzerland and Italy :). Like a shark smelling blood I was immediately attracted to this album... and my first impressions of it lasted. The album is a pure wonder of epic true metal and a lot of progress since last album. Lyrics are, most of them, related to Michael Moorcock's (anti) hero Elric and his surroundings (Demons, Gods of Chaos, Dragons,...). I'm a big fan of Moorcock's book so of course I appreciate the lyrics even more... and it's nice that a band embraced this hero's story (even though Elric is mentionned on Hammerfall - Legacy Of Kings). So that's for the lyrics, but the album is far more interesting from the music point of view... a very good epic true metal release with strong elements in guitar and vocal performance makes DragonLords a must have CD ! Far more mature than it's predecessor, this release really marks the difference for this Italian band. From the first song to the last epic song about Excalibur and King Arthur (12+ minutes long !!!) , this is the kind of album you don't want to miss.
